I spotted these uber cool coin/emblem-like buttons in Lincraft a few weeks ago and new they were destined marvelous things. Coin rings, like this beauty from Palas, are huge at the moment and I already had some ring backings in the back of my crazy craft closet so it was a really quick and easy project. I’m LOVING the end result, worn it every day so far and kind of want to glue everything to ring backings now. Hoorah for $3 projects!!
- Buttons with a back loop
- Ring backing (available from most craft stores or Etsy)
- Super glue suitable for metal
- Pliers (ideally jewellery cutting pliers if you have them – I didn’t!)
How to make your own:
1.) You just want to cut off the back loop on the buttons with some jewellery cutting pliers (or just regular pliers by twisting it off with some force and maybe the help of some scissors)
2.) Flatten any bumps from the back of the button by pressing it down on a hard surface
3.) Pop your superglue onto the back of the button and press your ring backing down. Be sure your button design lines up with the ring direction (learnt that one the hard way!)
And you’re done! What do you think?
